My husband and I both jumped out of bed this morning around 5:30, he had to get ready to head out on the Mystic Maiden as a helper, and me to fire up the camera and take some pictures of such an important day in the Arisaig Community. We've all been watching the fishermen over the past couple of months getting ready for today. The ice only moved out a little over a week ago or so. It's the longest I've seen it hang around. Although the morning was full of rolling fog and a heavy mist, it didn't stop the fishermen from heading out on the water to set their first traps. The happiest fisherman of all was on the wharf today, I'll see if you can figure out who it was. I can tell you this, my kids were disappointed that he wasn't going to be on the school bus today, but they knew he was doing something really important. Oh, and how could I forget, today is our Fiona's 9th birthday, a fisherman mentioned to her she'd be having a party today and after that conversation she thought it would include lobster! hmmm.....I don't think so!
To all the fishermen/women we hope you have a safe and wonderful season! I'm pretty sure there's a feed in our midst sometime soon!
